“…[7][8][9] An ideal route to improve the mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si alloys is to expose them to ageing treatments for the precipitation of intermetallics from the solute atoms within the matrix of the alloy. [7] The influence of ageing treatment on the mechanical properties, [10][11][12][13] fatigue [14][15][16][17] and tribological behavior [18,19] were extensively studied for this kind of alloys in the past. Some of these reports have suggested that the change in the precipitation state predominantly influences the investigated properties.…”

“…The wear resistance of special brasses was investigated by many researches and was found to be influenced by a few factors: relative proportions of α and β phases, solution hardening mainly affected by the presence of aluminum and overall hardness of the alloy [3,5,11]. Sun et al found that a great amount of nano-sized Mn 5 Si 3 precipitates dispersed in the microstructure of one type of brass containing Mn and Si after quenching at temperatures above 730 o C. It was widely believed that the dispersion of fine precipitates in the matrix could effectively increase hardness and wear resistance of the alloys [12][13][14][15]. However, the effect of nano-sized Mn 5 Si 3 precipitates on the wear behavior of special brasses has not been reported to date.…”

“…O envelhecimento artificial e natural de ligas Al-Si-Mg também influencia na resistência ao desgaste abrasivo. Estes tratamentos térmicos provocam alterações microestruturais, as quais resultam em modificações na resistência ao desgaste destas ligas (Cevdet et al, 2006;Shah et al, 2007).…”
