Effect of Ball Milling and Fatty Acid Addition on the Properties of <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="TeX">$\hbox{MgB}_{2}$</tex-math></inline-formula> Wires

Abstract: Improved inductive critical current density, J c , at medium and high magnetic fields, B, has been obtained in MgB 2 wires made from ball milled and carbon doped precursors. The analyzed Fe-sheathed mono-filamentary wires have been manufactured by the powder-in-tube (PIT) and in-situ methods. C doping has been achieved by the addition of fatty acids, in particular oleic acid (C 18 H 34 O 2).
