Effect of Diabetes/Hyperglycemia on the Rat Retinal Adenosinergic System

Abstract: The early stages of diabetic retinopathy (DR) are characterized by alterations similar to neurodegenerative and inflammatory conditions such as increased neural apoptosis, microglial cell activation and amplified production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
