Effect of dried Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella growth factor on growth performance, meat qualities and humoral immune responses in broiler chickens

Abstract: This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of dried chlorella powder (Chlorella vulgaris; DCP) and chlorella growth factor (CGF) on growth performance, serum characteristics, meat qualities and humoral immune responses in broiler chicks. A total of 1050 day-old Ross male broiler chicks were randomly divided into 35 pens (30 chicks/pen) and subjected to one of seven dietary treatments. A non-medicated corn-soybean meal base diet was considered as negative control (NC) and added with either antib… Show more

“…Similarly, in agreement with this present study, An et al (2016), also reported that supplementation of dried Chlorella vulgaris powder not only significantly increased growth rates, but also increase final weight gain in broilers chicken compared with control unsupplemented group. The agreement between this report and the outcomes of this study indicated that absorptive efficiency of feed significantly improved in the rabbit which is also a caeca fermenter like chicken.…”

“…It is documented that dietary supplementation of chlorella improved growth performance, affected intestinal microbial diversity and modulated immune responses (Janczyk et al, 2009). Later on, it was found that C. vulgaris induced growth promoting effects and positively affect the humoral immune response in broiler chicks (An et al, 2016). To the best of our knowledge, it is the first study on the effects of dietary supplementation of Chlorella pyrenoidosa against AFB1 on growth performance, serum biochemical parameters, antioxidant capacity and lipid peroxidation in liver of broiler chickens.…”

“…Chlorella vulgaris contains a beneficial phytonutrient called Chlorella growth factor (CGF), which is rich in nucleic acid associated substances such as peptides, proteins, amino acids, vitamins and vital sugars (An et al . ). Different studies have reported vibrant nutritional effects of C. vulgaris at varying supplementation levels in aquaculture feeds (Table ).…”
