Effect of methanol extract of Salviae miltiorrhizae Radix in high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemic mice

Abstract: BackgroundThe dried root of Salvia miltiorrhiza, Salviae miltiorrhizae Radix (SR), is one of the most popular medicinal herbs in Asian countries such as China and Korea. In Asian traditional medicine, SR is considered to have a bitter flavor, be slightly cold in nature, and exert therapeutic actions in the heart and liver meridians. Thus, SR has been used to control symptoms related to cardiovascular diseases. Hyperlipidemia is recognized as the main cause of cerebrovascular and heart diseases; consequently, t… Show more

“…CP protected against post infarction myocardial fibrosis along with a reduction in chemokine production, macrophage infiltration, and fibroblast activation (Wei et al, 2013; Yang et al, 2013). Recent reports suggested that CP normalized hyperlipimedia, improving vascular function and other pathological processes (Niu et al, 2000; Zhao et al, 2010; Guo et al, 2016; Han et al, 2017; Lim et al, 2017). Recombinant human prourokinase (proUK) (Geng et al, 2018; Hao et al, 2018; Zhao et al, 2018) is a novel type of thrombolytic drug for clinical application in thrombotic diseases, which selectively activates fibrinogen on the surface of the thrombus, and has less side effect of bleeding (Sasahara et al, 1995; Verstraete, 1999).…”

“…People with obesity have fat metabolic disorder, which can lead to hyperlipidemia. The ways for researchers observing therapeutic effects of TCMs on obesity or hyperlipidemia are usually through measuring adipose tissue weight [50], serum parameters (such as leptin, cholesterol and triglyceride content) [51], etc. And differential proteomic provides a reference at the protein level.…”

“…Its main components are Salvia miltiorrhiza , Panax notoginseng , and Dipterocarpaceae [ 8 ]. Salvia miltiorrhiza [ 9 ] as a traditional medicine for promoting blood circulation and stasis has the effect of promoting blood circulation, relieving blood, and relieving pain and plays an important role in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The main component is water-soluble danshensu [ 10 ], which has the function of dilating blood vessels, increasing coronary flow, improving microcirculation, and so forth.…”
