Effect of Neuroleptics on immunoglobulins in Schizophrenia

Abstract: Fifty four schizophrenic patients, diagnosed a s per Research Diagnostic Criteria, were studied for the imn~unoglobulin profiles. The patients were given neuroleptics and the influence 01' neuroleptics on serum immunoglobulins IgG, IgA and IgM wds assessed by comparing the pretreatment and post-treatment immunoglobulin levels. A significant elevation of IgG levels was found in paranoid schizophrenics alter neurolptic treatment. IgA and IgM showed no alterarion The etiological implications are discussed.
