Effect of Nutrient Media and Phytohormones on In Vitro Establishment of Bambusa balcooa. Roxb.

Abstract: Bambusa balcooa.Roxb. is one of the most commercially important bamboo species. Some varieties of bamboo are being grown in the company's green house. However this species is very rare and it was not cultured until now due to lack of demand and maintenance problems. In this work B. balcooa ex-plants have been established and propagated by the axillary shoot bud proliferation method. Earlier several works have been done on this plant and a protocol has been. This work emphasizes on effects of phytohormones at d… Show more

“…Pasqualini et al (2019) reported similar results for Bambusa oldhamii, using the same concentration of the biocide. For the Guadua genus, PPM™ was used as a disinfection method on the micropropagation of G. angustifolia (Jiménez et al 2006), representing a low use, when compared with other more aggressive bamboo surface sterilizing agents, such as mercuric chloride (Ray & Ali 2016, Sandhu et al 2018, antibiotics, fungicides and other chemical substances, including bavistin, streptomycin, tetracycline, benomyl, agrimycin and cercobin (Jiménez et al 2006, Khan et al 2014.…”

“…Para otros estudios realizados en la especie de bambú Bambusa balcooa, los mejores resultados en longitud de especies han sido con sales de Murashige & Skoog, agregándole BAP y Kinetina en un ratio 3:1. Al usar el MS con ANA y BAP, el crecimiento no fue óptimo para los vástagos (Khan et al, 2014).…”
