“…Toumi et al found that the LC50 of deltamethrin on daphnia was 9.40 g L −1 after 24 h and 0.32 g L −1 after 48 h [30], the similar case was for fry rainbow trout, the LC50s were 3.18 g L −1 and 1.65 g L −1 in 24 h and 48 h, respectively [12]. For guppy Poecilia reticulate the 48 h and 96 h LC50s were 5.13 g L −1 and 1.9 g L −1 , respectively [13]. Aksakal and coworkers reported that the toxicity of pyrethroids ␣-cypermethrin and deltamethrin on C. dubia increased with the increasing exposure time, LC50 was 0.84 g L −1 in 24 h and 0.06 g L −1 in 48 h [3,4,31].…”

“…Deltamethrin and fenvalerate have a characteristic of lipophilicity and are easy to be absorbed through the gills of fish and cannot be metabolized quickly and thus are extremely toxic to aquatic life even at minute concentration. Shen et al's study showed that the 48 h LC50 of deltamethrin for guppy (Poecilia reticulate) was 5.13 g L −1 [4], which was three times more toxic than a-cypermethrin [12], and fenvalerate is very toxic to growth and physical activities of fish species even at minute concentration [13].…”

“…Li et al [47], reported that verapamil reduced the erythrocyte count, Hb and PCV in O. mykiss. Reduction in the values of these parameters was also reported in Prochilodus lineatus exposed to clomazone [48], and in Labeo rohita exposed to fenvalerate [49]. Reduction in the erythrocyte count was reported in Cirrhinus mrigala exposed to ibuprofen [50], and Clarias albopunctatus exposed to acetellic [51].…”

“…Toxicity tests in fish are useful in assessing possible eco-toxicological risks of contaminants (Prusty et al, 2011). The literature indicated that the toxicity of organophosphate-based herbicides varies from one species to another, and even in strains of the same species.…”
