“…Although patients remove their dentures several times a day from their fixtures over the 1‐year period, only one‐pull test was performed in this study. Also, thermal changes and immersing in different denture cleansing solutions may easily alter the retentive value of attachments after multiple cycles and pull out tests …”

“…Also, thermal changes and immersing in different denture cleansing solutions may easily alter the retentive value of attachments after multiple cycles and pull out tests. 15,16 Besides, new Locator attachments that have 4-different retention values and internal geometry are available in the market. Subsequent studies may be based on factors affecting the retention values of these attachments under masticatory cycles.…”

“…Thirty base units simulating 30 nonanatomic mandibular edentulous flat ridges were fabricated using cylindrical stone models with two embedded implant replicas (3.5 mm x 15 mm), (Astra; Dentsply Implants, Mölndal, Sweden) in bilateral canine position (Fig ). The fabrication of the stone model has been previously described . Briefly, two parallel implant analogs were positioned in a standardized manner at a distance of 22 mm between their centers in a prefabricated one side open‐ended resin cylinder (CS‐4; SD Mechatronik GmbH, Feldkirchen‐Westerham, Germany).…”

“…Thirty identical T‐shaped acrylic resin units (30 mm long, 20 mm wide, 10 mm thick) equipped with two metallic rings were fabricated to simulate the opposing denture units as described previously (Fig ) . The metal Locator housings with the black processing inserts were picked‐up into the corresponding denture recesses using cold‐cured acrylic (Unifast Trad; GC America Inc., Alsip, IL).…”
