The prevention and management of GDM can be done by increasing the food consumption rich in antioxidant, fruit and vegetables and also other antioxidant rich sources. 7 Tender coconut water is a natural, healthy, nutritious, provided by nature, easily obtained in tropical countries. Tender coconut ABSTRACT Background: Diabetes during pregnancy or Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) causes oxidative stress and have bad effect for mother and baby, risk of abortion, still birth, premature and preeclampsia. GDM can be prevented by monitoring the glucose level and providing rich antioxidants meals. TCW is a nutritious healthy drink rich in antioxidants, diet rich in antioxidants promotes better health, Inhibits lipid peroxidation and enhances the total antioxidant status. Aim and Objectives: This research to investigate the effect of tender coconut water can prevent lipid peroxidation, reduce glucose levels and increase insulin plasma level on pregnant diabetic rats. Material and Methods: Experimental study by post test only control group design, population of pregnant wistar strain rats. Twenty four samples used in this study were randomly divided into 4 groups, K1 (pregnant rats), K2 (pregnant rats+diabetic), K3 (pregnant rats+diabetic+ glibenklamid 0.23 mg/kg BW) and K4 (pregnant rats+diabetic+TCW 8mL/200grBW). Diabetes Mellitus were induced using Streptozotocin (STZ) 65mg/kgBW and Nicotinamid 230 mg/kgBW. Data on insulin plasma, glucose and MDA levels were analyzed using One Way Anova with significant level 0.05. Result: The results showed that the average insulin plasma levels in group 2 decreased compared to group 1 , in group 3 and 4 it increased compared to group 2. Average glucose and MDA levels in group 2 increased compared to group 1 , in group 3 and 4 it decreased compared to group 2. The results of the analysis has the p values 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion:TCW can inhibit the process of lipid peroxidation, reduce glucose levels, increase insulin plasma levels and in pregnant diabetic rats.

Introduction: Plumbum (Pb) is the main air pollutant in urban areas, is one of the heavy metals contained in motor vehicle fuel. Pb is a heavy metal that will trigger the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), can reduce the activity of antioxidant enzymes and cause oxidative stress in the kidneys. Tender coconut water contains compounds that are as antioxidants that can protect the effects of free radicals caused by Pb. This study aims to prove the effect of tender coconut water on ureum levels in wistar strain rats exposed to plumbum (Pb). Method: experimental research with posttest only control group design. The independent variable was administration of tender coconut water, while the dependent variable was ureum levels. The study population was wistar strain male rats that were kept in the Penelitian Antar Universitas (PAU) Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta. The eighteen male wistar strain rats used in this study were divided into 3 random groups, namely the K1 (control); K2 (Pb of 10 mg / day given inhalation); K3 (tender coconut water 8mL /200grBW). Urea levels were analyzed by the Kruskal Walls test, because the data distribution was not normal. Results: The mean ureum levels K1: 11,13 ± 0,51 mg / dL; K2: 52.85 ± 1.97 mg/dL; K3: 19.71 ± 1, 25 mg / dL. The mean ureum level in K2 was higher with K1 and K3, but in K3 it decreased when compared to K2 although it was still higher than K1. The analysis test results obtained p: 0,000 (p value <0.05). Conclusion: Administration of tender coconut water is proven to reduce urea levels in wistar rats exposed to Pb. Keywords: Plumbum (Pb); ureum levels; tender coconut water; ROS ABSTRAK Pendahuluan: Plumbum (Pb) merupakan polutan udara utama di perkotaan, merupakan salah satu logam berat yang terkandung dalam bahan bakar kendaraan bermotor. Pb merupakan logam berat yang akan memicu pembentukan Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), dapat menurunkan aktivitas enzim antioksidan dan menyebabkan stres oksidatif pada ginjal. Air kelapa muda mengandung senyawa yang bersifat sebagai antioksidan yang dapat melindungi efek radikal bebas yang ditimbulkan oleh Pb. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan adanya Efek Air kelapa Muda terhadap Kadar Ureum pada Tikus Galur Wistar yang terpapar Plumbum (Pb). Metode: Jenis penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan posttest only control group design. Variabel bebas pemberian air kelapa muda, sedangkan variabel terikat kadar ureum. Populasi penelitian adalah tikus jantan galur wistar yang dipelihara di Penelitian Antar Universitas (PAU) Universitas Gajah Mada, Yogyakarta. Delapan belas ekor tikus jantan galur wistar digunakan dalam penelitian ini dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok secara random, yaitu kelompok K1 (kontrol); K2 (Pb sebanyak 10 mg/hari diberikan secara inhalasi); K3 (air kelapa muda 8mL/200gr). Data kadar ureum dianalisis dengan uji Kruskal Walls, karena distribusi tidak normal. Hasil: Rerata kadar ureum K1 : 11,13 ±0,51 mg/dL; K2: 52,85 ±1,97 mg/dL; K3: 19,71 ±1, 25 mg/dL. Rerata kadar ureum pada K2 lebih tinggi dibandung dengan K1dan K3, tetapi pada K3 mengalami penurunan jika dibandingkan dengan K2 walaupun masih lebih tinggi dari K1. Hasil uji analisis diperoleh nilai p: 0,000 (p<0,05). Kesimpulan: Pemberian air kelapa muda terbukti mampu menurunkan kadar ureum pada tikus wistar yang terpapar Pb. Background and Objective: Masculinity encompasses sexual potency as one of its determinants. The global rise in rates of sexual dysfunctionality in males has gained much interest in the world of science, hence, a need for ways to enhance and manage sexual dysfunctionality. This study evaluated the effects of the synergistic mixture of Cyperus esculentus (tiger nuts), Phoenix dactylifera (dates) and Cocos nucifera (coconut), (STCD) on the reproductive hormones in a male rat model. Materials and Methods: Acute toxicity LD 50 of STCD was carried out according to Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) guidelines, afterwards, fifteen male albino rats were grouped into three groups with 5 rats in each group; Control, 200 and 400 mg/kg STCD. The rats were administered STCD orally for 24 hrs, for 21 days, with feed and water ad libitum. Blood samples were collected via cardiac puncture for biochemical analysis while the tests were harvested for histological examination. The IBM SPSS, Version 25 was used for statistical analysis. Results: Acute toxicity LD 50 of STCD was observed to be $2404.2 mg/kg body weight. An increase in the serum concentration of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and testosterone were observed, while a decrease in prolactin was observed in the group administered STCD at 200 and 400 mg/kg STCD with values, 0.526±0.193, 1.166±0.440, 0.756±0.130, 0.536±0.217 and 1.018±0.741, 1.700±0.835, 0.874±0.516 and 0.284±0.627, respectively, when compared to the control. The histological examination showed numerous germ cells with normal spermatozoa for control and 200 mg/kg extract, while that of 400 mg/kg extract showed a spermatic cord containing mature spermatozoa. Conclusion: The results of this present study show that STCD had enhancing effects on the male reproductive hormones investigated, thus this study suggests the enhancing potency on male sexual libido and performance of STCD. This is also evidenced by the copulatory behavior observed in the experimental rats when administered STCD.
