“…The phase formation of the samples NCS and CCS which were sintered at 802°C and 900°C, respectively, were examined by XRD. The XRD peak patterns (Figure ) of both the samples showed very similar trend and well matched with JCPDS file no: 84‐0655 of β ‐wollastonite phase . It is also noticed that the peak intensities of NCS powder were slightly higher than that of CCS; this observation indicates that the calcium silicate synthesized from RHA and eggshell has good crystallization.…”

“…The XRD peak patterns ( Figure 2) of both the samples showed very similar trend and well matched with JCPDS file no: 84-0655 of β-wollastonite phase. 28 It is also noticed that the peak intensities of NCS powder were slightly higher than that of CCS; this observation indicates that the calcium silicate synthesized from RHA and eggshell has good crystallization. The average crystallite size was calculated as ~48.3 nm for NCS and ~62.8 nm for CCS using Debye Scherrer's equation.…”

“…In order to improve the mechanical and degradation properties of bioactive CaO-SiO 2 systems, Li et al investigated the effect of partially substituting CaO with ZnO [ 100 ]. The considered bioceramics were prepared by sintering a sol-gel derived precursor, including zinc nitrate hexahydrate to substitute 5 mol % of ZnO for CaO.…”

“…Low mechanical strength (less than the cortical bone), brittleness, and low handiness (difficulty to cut under operating conditions) are a problem in clinical conditions. However, modifications in the chemical structure of apatite (Si, Sr, Fe, and Mg ion substitution) and bioglass (addition of MgO, SrO, or ZnO oxides) allow to achieve better structural mimetics of the substitute, but do not significantly improve its mechanical properties while maintaining high bioactivity [ 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 ].…”
