“…Additionally, in the scope of cross border reproductive care, patients opt to travel abroad or more rarely, they may become unable-for personal reasons-to present to an assisted reproduction unit [40]. Thus, the option of arranging an ET procedure on D4 taking into consideration the patients' requests, even on account of avoiding weekends [6], may provide further flexibility to the demanding schedule of an IVF laboratory [8,18]. Nonetheless, decision making within the context of an IVF laboratory requires data supporting 1 day versus another developmental stage.…”

“…Kiltz et al (21), in a conference presentation, reported the results of a retrospective study which included 272 day 3, 44 day 4, and 38 day 5 embryo transfers; clinical pregnancy rate after day 4 transfers was higher (but not significantly) compared with day 3 (59.1% vs. 40.1) and lower (but not significantly) compared with day 5 (59.1% vs. 68.4%). Saadat et al (22) reported in another conference presentation the results of a retrospective study including 239 subjects who had a day 4 embryo transfer and 286 who had a day 3 transfer; clinical pregnancy rates were comparable between the two groups (46% and 42%, respectively), but the authors mentioned a remarkable trend toward an increased pregnancy rate after day 4 transfers in younger women (<34 years of age).…”
