Electric Field Evaluation Using the Finite Element Method and Proxy Models for the Design of Stator Slots in a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Abstract: The efficiency of electric motors is being improved every day and projects with design variations can improve their performance. Among electric motors, the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) is being increasingly used, because of its growing use in electric vehicles. Simulating design variations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) can improve PMSM design, and by optimizing the parameters based on the FEM, even better results can be achieved. The design of the PMSM stator slots must be evaluated, as … Show more

“…When confronted with the optimization challenges associated with engineering machinery operating under dynamic workloads, it is common practice to utilize dynamic optimization techniques. Primary dynamic optimization methods include the Approximate Proxy Modeling method [20] and the equivalent static load method [21]. The approximate proxy Modeling method is a mathematical modeling approach used to construct models for complex systems, particularly when experimental or simulation data are limited.…”

“…To Secoli [35] the use of two or more medications, is directly associated with increased risk of DIs, which can cause serious adverse drug reactions. Artificial intelligence-based models are an alternative for dealing with these complex tasks in prediction (emergency [36], faults [37], and power generation [38]), optimization [39], and classification using k-nearest neighbors [40], convolutional neural networks [41], and other structures based on deep learning [42]. There is room for application of these models in several fields, such as in the study of electrical machines [43], combining with optimization methods [44], and sustainability [45].…”

“…The results presented in the work show that the simulation of the model for air gap flow density is in accordance with the values calculated through the FEM. The FEM stands out for several applications including to evaluate the skin effect, as shown in [22]- [25]. In addition, for an accurate assessment through FEM, many authors emphasize the importance of considering this effect [26]- [28].…”
