Electrolytically generated acid functional water inhibits NF-κB activity by attenuating nuclear-cytoplasmic shuttling of p65 and p50 subunits

Abstract: The results from this study indicate that FW might inhibit spontaneous IL-8 secretion by redistribution of the NF-κB subunits within the cells.

“…Such retrotransport of NF-κB is also dependent of the dynein/dynactin motor complex [116]. Like SRs, NF-κB dimers are also subject of a dynamic nuclear-cytoplasmic shuttling [117,118]. Therefore, the IκB/NF-κB complex also undergoes dynamic dissociation and reassociation events.…”

“…38,39) As a plausible mechanism involving acidic water, acidic water has been known to induce hBD2, irrespective of NF-κB. 13,14) Strategically, acidic water inhibits NF-κB activity by attenuating nuclear-cytoplasmic shuttling of p65 and p50 subunits. 14) Further, increased NF-κB expression would induce cutaneous inflammation, 40) consequently hBD might improve wound healing.…”
