“…4 Several other lesions enter into the pathologic differential diagnosis, including adenosarcoma, rhabdomyoma, edematous cervical mesodermal polyps (pseudosarcoma botryoides), and other "small, round, blue cell" tumours. 6 Adenosarcomas, a strong option that was considered in our case as a differential diagnosis, can also be found in young female, but histologically can be distinguished from sarcoma botryoides by their fibrous stroma and leaf-like pattern of glands. Also, immunohistochemical markers that usually label ERMS are desmin, with a positivity rate of 75-100%, vimentin and myogenin, which is considered the most sensible and specific marker (70-100% of cases).…”

However, after consecutive trials, the IRSG has modified the treatment protocols with the addition of multiple chemotherapeutic agents to surgery, greatly improving the prognosis and survival of thistumour and also allowed more conservative fertility-sparing surgeries in early stages of the disease.…”

“…Beneath intact epithelium condensed sub epithelial layer of rhabdomyoblasts are scattered in a loose myxoid or dense collagen..The cells in cambium layer are round to spindle with oval nuclei with open chromatin and inconspicuous nuclei. The pathological differential diagnosis of this lesion includes rhabdomyoma, edematous cervical mesodermal polyps (pseudo sarcoma botryoides) and adeno sarcoma [7] Mesoderm stromal polyp (pseudo sarcoma botryoides) is benign exophytic lesion occurring in the vagina and cervix of women of reproductive age. Histology shows the polypoidal lesion composed of edematous stroma covered by a benign appearing stratified squamous epithelium.…”

“…It can be differentiated from embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma by the absence of cambium layer and mitotic figures. Sarcoma botryoides of the cervix behaves less aggressively than sarcoma botryoides of the vagina and uterus [7]. Recently the approach of management of embryonic rhabdomyo sarcoma has been increasingly conservative in order to preserve the fertility in young nulliparous women [3,8].…”

“…Asociada a la cirugía y la radioterapia en casos seleccionados, la tasa de supervivencia libre de enfermedad y global se ha incrementado hasta el 70% a los 5 años y el 90% en enfermedad no metastásica. En las mujeres adultas este porcentaje es más variable y no tan optimista; ronda el 60-70% en pacientes del grupo I y subtipo embrionario, descendiendo al 30% en enfermedad muy voluminosa, diseminada, o histológicamente más agresiva (1)(2)(3)(4)9).…”
