Energy and exergy analyses of single and double reheat irreversible Rankine cycle

Abstract: In this paper, energy and exergy analyses based on the thermal efficiency, exergy efficiency, exergetic performance criterion, exergy destruction and net specific work output have been performed for irreversible single reheat Rankine cycle (SRRC) and double reheat Rankine cycle (DRRC). The effects of the reheat pressure, boiler pressure and boiler temperature on the general and optimal performance of the cycle are investigated by taking into account the mechanical, boiler and isentropic efficiencies. The maxim… Show more

“…However, the P 13 leads to similar variation for P O and _ m f . The maximum values of P O , _ Ex dest , and _ m f are obtained at 7500 kPa of P 9 ; however, the peak P d , ε, and ECOP are attained at 17 500 kPa of P 9 . The values of the P 13 are 4750, 7500, 6250, and 4150 kPa at the maximum P O , _ Ex dest , _ m f , and P d -ε-ECOP, respectively.…”

“…Consequently, the power of all over system increases. _ Ex dest , _ m f , and _ m S also increases with increasing P O and T 8 to provide heat balance in the HEX at constant P 9 . Increasing values of _ m f and _ m S negatively affect the P d , ε, and ECOP variation.…”
