Thermodynamic and economic analysis of performance evaluation of all the thermal power plants: A review

Abstract: Surging in energy demand makes it necessary to improve performance of plant equipment and optimize operation of thermal power plants. Inasmuch as thermal power plants depend on fossil fuels, their optimization can be challenging due to the environmental issues which must be considered. Nowadays, the vast majority of power plants are designed based on energetic performance obtained from first law of thermodynamic. In some cases, energy balance of a system is not appropriate tool to diagnose malfunctions of the … Show more

“…[1][2][3] Utilization of renewable energy in the energy conversion systems, such as the sun or wind energy can be a solution to these challenging issues. Several factors such as energy cost, energy consumption rate, and sustainable availability lead the societies to follow an alternative solution for replacing fossil-based energy with a minor harmful effect on the environment.…”

“…Most of the previous studies on gathering and transportation system were from the perspective of energy analysis and exergy analysis, in which only energy saving was considered rather than cost saving. [13][14][15] In this paper, a gathering and transportation system is analyzed combined with exergoeconomics. Not only energy saving is considered, but also the saving of cost investment analysis is taken into consideration, which is also an innovation in the gathering and transportation system.…”

“…One dominant issue associated with renewable energy sources can be considered as their shortcoming to store the generated energy in an applicable approach. 2 This issue is not relevant for biomass due to the fact that the generated fuels from biomass like ethanol and biodiesel can be utilized at any moment. Nonetheless, the produced electricity from wind turbines, solar systems, and geothermal power cannot be stored for subsequent applications.…”
