Enhancing Knowledge Transfer

Abstract: How can design for learning with technology facilitate knowledge transfer from educational to noneducational contexts?" To answer this question, we start with a review of five theoretical approaches to transfer: behaviorist, cognitive, situated, participationist, and developmental practices approach. We stress that they are not mutually exclusive, but that they emphasize different types of knowledge. We distinguish between declarative knowledge, procedural knowledge, and relational knowledge. Next, we identify… Show more

“…For example, in the literature it is argued that learners appreciate digital learning as it enables flexibility, interactivity, and self-pacing (e.g., Hromalik & Koszalka, 2018;Sun et al, 2008). Indeed, research shows that the use of edtech can enhance learning motivation and engagement (Jones, 2020), self-regulated learning (Broadbent et al, 2020), and knowledge transfer (Dohn et al, 2020). Beyond learner enjoyment and cognitive skills, edtech has also shown promise in terms of promoting critical thinking skills, sociocultural learning, student engagement, and learner creativity (Bishop et al, 2020;Lu et al, 2021).…”

“…This teacher-centered approach of instruction seems to follow a linear organization of the lesson plan according to the following stages: (a) introduction to the new concept; (b) analysis and practice in the new concept; and (c) review of the concept, homework assignment, and evaluation [45]. The behaviorist approach mainly focuses on declarative and procedural knowledge, and specializes in fragmenting the learning outcomes into smaller parts [46]. Student-teachers are invited to consider cases where the traditional model of teaching can be applied.…”

“…Therefore, Database and DW are only effective in retaining data for analyzing and managerial purposes, and they do not support the organization's KM retention process. Unfortunately, the existing literature lacks studies to illustrate and propose a framework for organizational knowledge transfer and retention [12,13]. Interestingly, this research paper explores the main possible components needed to manage and retain SSSC knowledge.…”
