Dataset gambar aksara Bali yang besar dan komprehensif adalah sumber daya penting dalam upaya pemeliharaan warisan budaya Bali serta pengembangan aplikasi terkait. Dataset ini memungkinkan analisis mendalam, pengenalan karakter, pemrosesan bahasa, dan pengujian aplikasi seperti pengenalan tulisan otomatis, pengajaran otomatis, dan pemahaman bahasa, yang semuanya mendukung kemajuan dalam pelestarian warisan budaya Bali. Metode penelitian untuk menghasilkan dataset aksara Bali melibatkan akses ke sumber data, analisis struktur web, dan penerapan teknik web scraping dengan JavaScript untuk pengambilan gambar secara otomatis. Dua tahap utama, yaitu inisiasi dan pengumpulan data, memungkinkan pengumpulan dataset dalam jumlah besar dengan efisiensi tinggi, mempercepat proses pengumpulan data dan meningkatkan akurasi dalam penelitian aksara Bali. Data yang digunakan berasal dari kamus bahasa Bali, bahasa Indonesia, dan bahasa Inggris, dengan total 35.319 kata dalam bahasa Bali, yang kemudian dikonversi menjadi aksara Bali. Hasil dari pembuatan dataset ini mencakup 35.319 pasang data berupa gambar teks aksara Bali dan tesk transliterasinya, memiliki potensi besar untuk pelatihan model pengenalan aksara Bali dan penelitian bahasa Bali. Langkah ini menguatkan ketersediaan dataset yang relevan, berkualitas tinggi, dan memiliki nilai signifikan dalam pengembangan teknologi serta penelitian lebih lanjut di bidang bahasa Bali dan pengenalan aksara Bali.

This research proposed a method to accommodate backward compatibility on the learning application-based transliteration to the Balinese Script. The objective is to accommodate the standard transliteration rules from the Balinese Language, Script, and Literature Advisory Agency. It is considered as the main contribution since there has not been a workaround in this research area. This multi-discipline collaboration work is one of the efforts to preserve digitally the endangered Balinese local language knowledge in Indonesia. The proposed method covered two aspects, i.e. (1) Its backward compatibility allows for interoperability at a certain level with the older transliteration rules; and (2) Breaking backward compatibility at a certain level is unavoidable since, for the same aspect, there is a contradictory treatment between the standard rule and the old one. This study was conducted on the developed web-based transliteration learning application, BaliScript, where its Latin text input will be converted into the Balinese Script output using the dedicated Balinese Unicode font. Through the experiment, the proposed method gave the expected transliteration results on the accommodation of backward compatibility.

Preservation of Indonesian culture is an important thing that must be considered. One of the efforts that have been made in preserving culture is technological development implementation. In cultural preservation, based on data obtained from 45 respondents from the Bima community in Indonesia, 34.9% of the community does not understand the Bima script. It means that only 65.1% of the community can understand Bima script. This condition will continue to grow if there is no effort made to preserve the Bima script. Because people should have a comprehensive knowledge of the Bima script to understand its usage in writing and reading activities, people tend to have less desire to learn the Bima script. Mataram University is trying to develop creative and innovative learning products to learn the Bima script learning model in an interactive application using a smartphone to translate Latin letters into the script. This development aims to facilitate the process of learning Bima characters for the community. The method that has been used is to apply a string replacement algorithm based on the Bima script rules in the reference book containing the ancient Bima script. According to the experiment result, the alpha test value from 31 respondents is 99.36%, and the Beta test value from 45 respondents Bima society is 91.50%. It can be concluded that this application is feasible as a learning medium.
