Essential Oil of Tanacetum parthenium (L.) from East Part of Kosova

Abstract: Problem statement: We have analyzed the chemical nature of essential oil of Tanacetum parthenium (L.) from East part of Kosova. Approach: The essential oil from aerial part of Tanacetum parthenium (L.), obtained by hidro-distillation was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Results: Out of 25 peaks, 22 components, which constitute 88%, were identified in oil. The main compounds of Tanacetum parthenium (L.) from east region of Kosova, were camphor (63%) and camphene (9.6%). This study demonstrates the occurrence of campho… Show more

“…Our research group is interested to analyze the chemical profile of essential oils from different medicinal plants which are growing wild in the region of Kosova and Albania (Haziri et al, 2009;. Juniperus communis (L.) is the medicinal plant, which is present in the fields of Kosova and their fruits and leaves have been used for a long time to treat different disease.…”

“…Most of the studies report the analysis and quantitation of sesquiterpene lactones (parthenolide, santamarin, canin) and flavonoid content (santin, luteolin, apigenin) of the plant (Awang et al ., ; González et al ., ; Harborne et al ., ; Végh et al ., ). There are several reports on the composition of the essential oil of feverfew (Mirjalili et al ., ; Hendriks et al ., ; Banthrope et al ., ; Akpulat et al ., ; Haziri et al ., ; Izadi et al ., ), in which the main components were found to be camphor, camphene and trans‐ chrysanthenyl acetate. Camphor is a volatile bicyclic ketone, well known for its sensory effect.…”
