“…While natural attenuation of nitrogen species occurs through biological nitrification‐denitrification processes, limits on removal efficiency have spurred research focused on best management practices for fertilizer application and other nitrogen loading on the environment (Boyer et al, ; Di & Cameron, ; Laurent & Ruelland, ), and on the transport and fate of nitrogen in the environment.
