Estrogen Secretion by the Chick Embryo Ovary

Abstract: This is a review of work on estrogen secretion by the chick embryo ovary. The genetically female gonadal anlage secretes estrone and estradiol at the time of sex differentiation. Estradiol induces in a very short time interval the secretion of estradiol in the testis. However, it is not likely to play a role in normal ovarian sex differentiation, since neither anti-estrogens nor aromatase inhibitors disturb ovarian differentiation.
