The dried fruits are used as an ingredient in anti-diabetic compositions and the green berries are used in food preparations such as pickles owing to the ancient belief that it possesses medicinal properties (Yadav et al, 1997;Hayat et al, 2008;Rastogi and Malhotra, 1991).
