Evaluation of the Autof MS1000 mass spectrometer in the identification of clinical isolates

Abstract: Background To evaluate the accuracy and performance of the Autof MS1000 mass spectrometer in bacteria and yeast identification, 2342 isolates were obtained from microbial cultures of clinical specimens (e.g. blood, cerebrospinal fluid, respiratory tract samples, lumbar puncture fluid, wound samples, stool, and urine) collected in 2019 in Henan Provincial People’s Hospital. Repetitive strains from the same patient were excluded. We tested the Autof MS1000 and Bruker Biotyper mass spectrometry systems and the cl… Show more

“…To this regard, the Autobio MS1000 mass spectrometer from Autobio Diagnostics has been recently presented as the first system in the landscape of the identification of clinical pathogenic microorganisms. The instrument is equipped with an ion source vacuum (up to 10 −7 mPa) and possesses higher speed over the existing systems being able to deliver a full target plate (96 tests) in about 20 min; moreover, its performance of identification has been proved comparable to the commonly used MALDI-TOF systems [ 10 ].…”

“…Until now, only three papers have been published that referred to the Autobio MS1000 platform performance of identification [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ]; nonetheless, to the best of our knowledge, there does not exist any research in the literature regarding the evaluation of the Autobio MS2600 mass spectrometer for the routine identification of clinical microorganisms.…”

“…Since 2018, the Autof ms1000 has been successfully used in microbiological laboratories for routine bacteria identification [ 10 , 11 ]. However, its use for identifying filamentous fungi has been limited.…”

“…At present, the most widely used MS-based microbial identification systems worldwide are the BioTyper (Bruker Daltonics GmbII, Germany) and VITEK MS (bioMérieux, France) systems [ 11 ]. Other more recently introduced MALDI-TOF MS devices based on similar principles, such as MicroIDSys system (ASTA corp., South Korea), Clin-TOF (Bioyong Technologies, China), and Autof ms1000 (Autobio Diagnostics, China) are also gradually put into use in clinical laboratories [ [12] , [13] , [14] ].…”
