This article explores why and how youth can build community bonds in the new era of rural development in Indonesia that produces local works in the form of tourist sales products. This article uses qualitative methods through a case study approach. The research was conducted in Balkondes Wringin Putih. Starting from individual unrest into community bonds that produce youth solidity, the village succeeded in developing tourist destinations in special economic areas based on tourism. When tourism development programs become the country’s priority, youth through the provision of village tour packages can create new jobs and increase rural economic productivity. The community ties and administration in the village’s growth, resulting from the ruralization process, are contextualised in the macro-political structure of the new age of Indonesian rural development, in fact, able to develop youth-based economic resilience. As empirical research to understand the development of new rural tourism, this study learns from the practices in Balkondes about a relational view of the ever-changing mechanisms of community bonding in the modern world.

Malaysia's democracy has come under attack due to the radicalisation of young and first-time voters on social media platforms. The widespread usage of TikTok as a primary campaign battleground by the political parties during the 15th General Election (GE-15) marks the anomaly pattern of first-time youth voters. Moreover, having social media influencers courting youth voters as a pawn in the electoral war is considered an accentuation of provocation of hate speech, endangering the prospect of moderate democracy in Malaysia. This commentary studies such anomalies by interviewing youth from varying socio-economic standing and educational backgrounds across Malaysia. Our research note highlights two crucial areas of unexplored terrain for future research. The first is the immediate need to invest in an emancipatory discourse of civic and political education and unabated expansions of democratic space and rights. Secondly, alarming concerns of electoral terrorism and hate speech via social media unravelled the under-research angles or assumed organic political divisions between analogue generations of corrupted warlords versus digital politics of technocratic youth savvy. Inadvertently, our observation of the 15th GE has discerned an increasing political worrisome pattern of widespread manipulative tendency by politicians, including using Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) technology to predict the voting pattern and understand the population sentiment through social media. We also concluded that tactics employed by the cyber troopers of political parties have significantly manipulated and poisoned the neutrality and perspectives of first-time youth voters.

There are in views that the families were the lack of relevance within the independent process to social care program. It has triggered to debating issue on the role of family within developing of micro and small enterprises. To add more on such issues, the study presents to examine about changing of family values and its implication to developing of culinary enterprises in Yogyakarta. Soto Kadipiro as the culinary business was chosen to conduct research, in which is as a case study to seek about the role of pioneering culinary enterprise with qualitative methods. Observed, desk-reviewed and interviewed applied following the data collection, and the researcher used historical approach to gain understanding of phenomena. The study finds that pioneering, developing, and maintaining of culinary enterprise has only carried out by the internal family of Soto Kadipiro. This fact reveals that changing role of family can be seen as an alternative way within developing of micro and small enterprises to gain of economic growth and increasing prosperity. It implicates to look at into a part of changing gender relations, educations, internal of family, and social class. As such, the social welfare should be employed with seeking the changing of internal families for the gaining roadmap of welfare provision in the future. ABSTRAKAda anggapan bahwa keluarga kurang memiliki relevansi dalam proses kemandirian untuk program kesejahteraan sosial. Anggapan ini memicu sebuah perdebatan tentang peran keluarga dalam program pengembangan usaha kecil maupun menengah. Untuk menanggapi masalah tersebut, studi ini hadir untuk mengkaji perubahan nilai keluarga dan implikasinya terhadap pengembangan usaha kuliner di Yogyakarta.
