Recipients were required to track down previous employers to ascertain weekly, fortnightly or monthly payslips, sometimes going back years, to illustrate ADM errors, precipitating ADM debt recipients into new forms of welfare 'chronopolitics' (Whelan, 2020; see also Katzman et al, 2020). So, it was these users of government services, rather than department workers, who were obliged to undertake the thorough human review of each fortnightly social security payment against ATO data sets, or follow up with third parties, to identify potential discrepancies in calculations.…”
