Self-regulated learning (SRL) and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are associated with academic achievement, but fostering these skills is not easy. Scholars have suggested an alternative way to scaffold these important skills through learning analytics (LA). This paper presents a formative evaluation of a course-level LA implementation through the lens of self-regulated learning (SRL) and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). We explored the changes in students' SRL, HOTS, and perceptions at the end of the course term. Results indicate an increase in some elements of SRL and HOTS, and positive student perceptions. Discussion on implications and opportunities for informing future teaching strategies and course design reiteration are included.

Networks in Education: A Travelogue Through Five Decades

For over five decades, researchers have used network analysis to understand educational contexts, spanning diverse disciplines and thematic areas. The wealth of traditions and insights accumulated through these interdisciplinary efforts is a challenge to synthesize with a traditional systematic review. To overcome this difficulty in reviewing 1791 articles researching the intersection of networks and education, this study combined a scientometric approach with a more qualitative analysis of metadata, such as keywords and authors. Our analysis shows rapidly growing research that employs network analysis in educational contexts. This research output is produced by researchers in a small number of developed countries. The field has grown more recently, through the surge in the popularity of data-driven methods, the adoption of social media, and themes as teacher professional development and the now-declining MOOC research. Our analysis suggests that research combining networks and educational phenomena continues to lack an academic home, as well as remains dominated by descriptive network methods that depict phenomena such as interpersonal friendship or patterns of discourse-based collaboration.

The diversity of Indonesian society, from ethnicity, religion, race, and class, is a social asset that harmony must be maintained. Multicultural education has an important role in maintaining this harmony. Prospective social science education teachers must have an attractive learning design in increasing understanding related to multicultural education. This study aims to see the effect of digital book learning design on multicultural education for prospective teachers. Researchers collaborated with students of the 2017 social science education study program, faculty of social science, Jakarta State University. Analysis of learning outcomes with two-way MANCOVA analysis with one covariate. The results show the interest in learning multicultural education, a significance value of 0.955 which is greater than 0.05, then H0 is accepted. The significance value obtained from all outputs is 0.000 which is smaller than 0.05, so H0 is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using digital book learning media on students' multicultural education
