Experimental investigation on the performance of the TiO2 and ZnO hybrid nanocoolant in ethylene glycol mixture towards AA6061-T6 machining

Abstract: This paper presents an experimental investigation on the coated carbide cutting tool performance of aluminium alloy AA6061-T6 machining through end mill processes using the minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technique. The process parameters including the cutting speed, depth of cut and feed rate are selected. The effect of the base fluid ratio (water: EG) to the hybrid nanocoolant was investigated in this experiment. The hybrid nanocoolant with 80:20 of volume concentration up to 0.1% was prepaid with a 21 nm… Show more

“…The influence of process parameters, such as voltage and current on varying thickness of different grades of steel material namely 1040, cold work tool steel (2379), and plastic mould steel (2738) was carried out. It is observed for same process parameter combination, different roughness values are obtained due to change in the material property [26][27][28]. The effect of process parameters, like pulse duration, pulse-off time, open circuit voltage, servo feed, servo voltage, dielectric flushing pressure, wire feed, and wire tension on surface roughness of Ti6Al4V material [29][30][31], AISI 4140 steel material [14], and AISI D2 tool steel material [32] were studied.…”

“…It is carried out on a lathe that provides the power to turn the workpiece at a given rotational speed and feed the cutting tool at a specified rate and depth of cut. Researchers have attempted several approaches to identify multiple process parameter settings that can increase quality at higher productivity levels, requiring the turning process to be executed more efficiently [1][2][3][4]. Thus, it is of utmost important to identify the optimal parameter settings to increase tool life, improve surface accuracy, and reduce cutting force and chip thickness in turning operations.…”

“…Nanomaterials have injected a revolutionary inspiration in almost every field of life due to their outstanding physiochemical characteristics than bulk materials. Metallic nanoparticles are playing a vital role in electrical equipment [1], heat transfer applications [2,3] and grinding machines productivity [4]. Synthesis of various metallic nanoparticles including gold, silver platinum titanium dioxide, palladium iron and copper have been widely dealt by researchers because of their indispensable role in industrial applications [5][6][7][8][9][10][11].…”
