“…Of the four (7%) articles where the authors specifically indicated an approach to grounded theory, two (3%) stated a constructivist approach (Pieterse, Lee, & Fetzer, 2016; Sherbino, Frank, & Snell, 2014), one (1.5%) stated a modified approach (Wittmann et al, 2015), and the final study (1.5%) stated a postpositivist approach (Forrest et al, 2013). An additional 10 (16%) articles explicitly stated following particular authors’ guidance: Eight (13%) aligned with Strauss and Corbin (Beaumont & Allan, 2014; Betancourt, Colarossi, & Perez, 2013; Bussing et al, 2012; Bussing et al, 2016; Elstad, Maserejian, McKinlay, & Tennstedt, 2011; Gallagher, Hall, Anderson, & Del Rosario, 2013; Nelson, Cordova, Walters, & Szecsy, 2016; Turnbull, van Schaik, & van Wersch, 2013); one (1.5%) with Glaser (Walsh, 2014); and one (1.5%) with Glaser and Strauss (Ungar & Liebenberg, 2011).
