Expression of novel tumor markers of pancreatic adenocarcinomas in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas

Abstract: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas (IHCCs) are morphologically and biologically similar to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs), so newly identified PDAC-associated genes or proteins could provide clues for screening novel biomarkers for IHCC. In this study, the expression of three novel PDAC tumor markers (T-box transcription factor-4 [TBX4], heat shock protein-60 [HSP60], and Parkinson protein-7 [DJ-1]) identified in previous proteomic studies in IHCC tumors were immunohistochemically detected. The curren… Show more

“…Table 1 shows the detailed characteristics of the 14 studies, 10 – 17 , 20 – 23 , 29 , 30 which are published from 2010 to 2016, containing a total of 1,410 cancer patients with the sample sizes distributing from 60 to 185 patients. The types of the malignant tumors included GSCC, 10 HCC, 17 NSCLC, 11 cervix squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), 29 intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas (IHCCs), 22 Glioma, 23 GC, 16 triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), 12 – 14 medulloblastoma (MB), 21 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), 30 pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PNENs) 20 and invasive breast cancer (IBC). 15 All studies used immunohistochemistry (IHC) method to investigate the expression level of DJ-1 in cancer patient and control.…”

“…The incidence and mortality of ICCs have increased in recent years, and prognosis of ICC patients is poor. Currently, there have been very few recognized tumor markers for ICC but great needs to mine novel markers as diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic targets [ 1 ]. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to study ICC carcinogenesis [ 2 ].…”
