Fabrication of novel ZIF‐67 Composite Microspheres for Effective Adsorption and Solid‐phase Extraction of Dyes from Water

Abstract: ZIFs type metal-organic frameworks have been found to rapidly remove organic contaminants from water by adsorption. But ZIFs crystals are not suitable to be directly used as stationary phases of solid-phase extraction (SPE) process, because of the non-spherical morphology. This study reports a novel composite adsorbent, ZIF-67 composite microspheres (ZIF-67 CMs), synthesized via in-situ growing ZIF-67 nanoparticles (ZIF-67 NPs) on the outer surface of resin microspheres (RMs). The assynthesized ZIF-67 CMs were… Show more

“…Curve 1 is the same as the infrared spectrum of ZIF-67 in the reported literature, which proves that the preparation of ZIF-67 is successful. 25 The C-Br stretching vibration at 1085 cm À1 , the C-C stretching vibration at 1250 cm À1 , and the C]C stretching vibration at 1678 cm À1 in curve 2 proved that ZIF-67@[Bmim][Br] was successfully prepared. The peaks at 1500 cm À1 and 2173 cm À1 in curve 3 correspond to the N]N stretching vibration and C^N stretching vibration in azobisisobutyronitrile, and the peaks at 833 cm À1 and 1370 cm À1 correspond to the out-of-plane bending vibration and in-plane bending vibration of C-H in diol dimethacrylate respectively, and the peak at 1220 cm À1 corresponds to the C]O symmetric stretching vibration, which proved that ZIF-67@[Bmim][Br]@MIP was successfully prepared.…”

“…All the isolated materials were characterized by powder XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, SEM/EDS, and N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The vibrational spectra of the materials depict that the main absorption bands are predictable from the MOF structures (Figure 2a): a very strong band observed around 420 cm −1 assigned to metal-nitrogen coordination, strong and weak bands from 600 up to 1500 cm −1 can be attributed to C-N ring bonds, and a weak vibration band seen at 1580 cm −1 is assigned to the C=N bond [33,34]. Additionally, in the composite materials (PMo 12 @ZIF-8, PW 12 @ZIF-8, and PMo 12 @ZIF-67) spectra, a group of medium intensity bands are evident in the interval from 770 to 975 cm −1 .…”
