“…The present work is part of the NUMEN experimental campaign carried out with 20 Ne and 18 O beams performed at the INFN-LNS at 15.3 AMeV incident energy. Among these, the 20 Ne + 76 Ge [32], 20 Ne + 116 Cd [16,33,34], 18 O + 76 Se [35], and 18 O + 40 Ca [17,36] systems were recently studied. Optical model and coupled-channel calculations are performed to describe the experimental cross-section angular distributions extracted for the elastic and some inelastic transitions.…”

“…A relevant conclusion of these studies is that an accurate description of the experimental data requires the inclusion of couplings with the low-lying excited states. In particular, the relevant couplings have the 2 + 1 states of the projectile and target and sometimes, as for example in the 18 O + 40 Ca case [36], also with the 3 − 1 . Here, we discuss new data for the elastic and inelastic scattering of the 20 Ne + 130 Te and 18 O + 116 Sn systems in the same theoretical framework of our previous works [32,[34][35][36].…”

“…The double-β decay with the emission of neutrinos (2ν2β) of 116 Cd has been studied most recently by the NEMO-3 [8] and Aurora [9] experiments. The latter used enriched 116 CdWO 4 crystal scintillators and has the most precise measurement of the ground-state to ground-state 2ν2β half-life [T 1/2 = (2.63 +0.11 −0.12 ) × 10 19 yr] and set an improved limit on the 0ν2β decay of T 1/2 ≥ 2.2×10 23 yr. 116 Cd is also proposed as a candidate as part of a future multi-isotope bolometric experiment, the CUORE Upgrade with Particle IDentification, to search for 0ν2β [10].…”
