“…In North America, T. horridus has been reared from both Carduus and Cirsium species (McAvoy et al , 1987; Takahashi et al , 2009; Wiggins et al , 2009), which suggests either the presence of two species of weevil ( T. horridus on Cirsium and T. mortadelo on Carduus ) or that at least one of the species is not as specific as Alonso-Zarazaga & Sánchez-Ruiz (2002) claimed. Furthermore, the weevils have been found on Cirsium, Carduus and Onopordum in New Zealand despite the introduction of only one population from Canada (Groenteman et al , 2008).…”
