Foliar Fertilization of Crop Plants

Abstract: Essential plant nutrients are mainly applied to soil and plant foliage for achieving maximum economic yields. Soil application method is more common and most effective for nutrients, which required in higher amounts. However, under certain circumstances, foliar fertilization is more economic and effective. Foliar symptoms, soil and plant tissue tests, and crop growth responses are principal nutrient disorder diagnostic techniques. Soil applications of fertilizers are mainly done on the basis of soil tests, whe… Show more

“…These reference values are traditionally obtained in calibration tests in which the nutrient rates are varied and all the other production factors are maintained constant (Kurihara et al, 2005). However, the long time and high costs required to establish the standard values are the main drawbacks of these methods, besides the limitations arising from the requirement that the cultivation conditions of the plants to be diagnosed must be similar to those of the plants used to obtain the calibration curve (Fageria et al, 2009).…”

“…de produção com alta tecnologia (Fageria et al, 2009), pois contribui para redução nos custos com fertilizantes, ao possibilitar adubações mais equilibradas. Para a interpretação do estado nutricional das plantas, os métodos do nível crítico (NC) e das faixas de suficiência (FS) estão entre as ferramentas mais utilizadas para lavouras comerciais.…”
