Formation of the Surface Layers of a Material with Shape-Memory-Based TiNiCo Diffusion Metallization

Abstract: The formation of a surface layer of diffused TiNiCo was carried out by metallization of fusible metal melt under isothermal conditions in an argon atmosphere at a temperature of 1100–1150 °C. The driving force of the process is the difference in concentration of alloying elements on the surface of the workpiece melt. A melt of lead or eutectic Pb-Bi was used as a transport medium, whose elements are in saturated atomic state and in direct contact with the surface of workpieces. This molten surface-activated pr… Show more

“…As for the functional properties of the surface layers of materials with shape memory strict observance of the chemical and phase composition is Applied Research in Materials and Mechanics Engineering neccessary, the very important task is to clean inert gas (argon) of impurities. For spectrally pure argon in the formation of coatings with SME apparatus for individual and continuous purification of argon type mixers [5] was used.…”

“…Methods of chemical-thermal treatment are the most promising methods for hardening the surface of products made of high-strength cast iron. Methods of diffusion metallization are widely used among them [1,2,3,4]. Diffusion metallization restores parts with low wear, high surface hardness and working under conditions of friction with a variety of mating materials [5].…”

“…It is known that intelligent materials with shape memory effect (SME) have a wide range of features. Their use in the formation of composite surface layers can be very productive, providing wide range of desirable features: superelasticity, wear and corrosion resistance, high damping capacity, durability, crack resistance, adaptability [1][2][3][4][5][6][7].…”
