Formulation-based antagonistic endophyte Amycolatopsis sp. SND-1 triggers defense response in Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek. (Mung bean) against Cercospora leaf spot disease

Abstract: In the present work, Amycolatopsis sp. SND-1 (SND-1) was isolated from Cleome chellidonii Linn. (C. chellidonii) was performed as biocontrol and resistance elicitor in Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek (mung bean) plants against Cercospora leaf spot causing pathogen Cercospora canescens (C. canescens). The SND-1 isolate showed 74% of inhibition against C. canescens in dual culture and in-vitro plant growth trials exhibited production of indole acetic acid, gibberellic acid, cytokinin, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, an… Show more

“…( Siddiqui et al., 2001 ; Chattopadhyay et al., 2022 ) and Amycolatopsis sp. ( Alipour Kafi et al., 2021 ; Basavarajappa et al., 2023 ) have the potential to promote plant growth and biocontrol. The beneficial fungus Serendipita acts as a differential indicator of diseased plant roots ( Mohamed et al., 2020 ).…”

“…strain SND-1 showed enhanced lignin, H 2 O 2 , and phenol depositions and elicited PAL, GLU, and POX enzyme activities in C. canescens infected mung bean plants. 17 These cellular and biochemical defense markers can confer the protection from pathogen by restricting the invasion of the pathogenic mycelia. In a previous report, Streptomyces rochei, Streptomyces aureofaciens, and Streptomyces sp.…”
