“…In the present investigation, the stoichiometric films deposited at an oxygen partial pressure of 2 Â 10 À4 mbar showed the optical band gap of 3.16 eV. It is in good agreement with the reports of pulsed laser deposited films [11,24] and dc magnetron sputtered films [15] where the grown films were a-phase of MoO 3 . Boudoud et al [18] achieved a high optical band gap of 3.35 eV in spray deposited films.…”

“…MoO 3 find applications as a cathode material in the development of high energy density solid state microbatteries and in electrochromic devices [5,6]. So far, thin film deposition techniques explored for the preparation of MoO 3 films includes the thermal evaporation [7,8], electron beam evaporation [6,9,10], pulsed laser deposition [4,11], electro deposition [12], sputtering [13][14][15][16], metal organic chemical vapour deposition [17], spray pyrolysis [18] and sol-gel process [19]. Among these methods, dc magnetron sputtering received considerable attention from the technological point of view because of the advantage in generation of films at low temperatures with required chemical composition on large area substrates.…”

“…The optical parameters such as the refractive index, extinction coeffi- 34 cient, optical band gap energy and the Urbach energy were calculated from Cauchy formalism. 35 Ellipsometric measurements reveal that the samples present optical gap located between 3.24 and 36 3.90 eV when the atmosphere becomes rich on oxygen. The variation of the conductivity in terms of 37 the temperature shows an electrical behavior with oxygen environment.…”

“…In recent years, most studies have focused on the gasochromic switching properties of palladium-covered (few nanometers) thin films such as WO 3 [7], MoO 3 [8], V 2 O 5 [9], composite metal oxides [10] and nanowires [11,12] with thicknesses from 100 to 1000 nm. We expect similar gasochromic properties for colloidal Pd-WO 3 with even better responses because gasochromic tungsten oxide nanoparticles have a high surface/volume ratio compared with film structures.…”
