“…NHL of the oral cavity and oropharynx is defined as either B-or natural killer (NK)/T-lymphoid cell cancer. Bone involvement also occurs in some rare cases (3). Oral lesions most frequently present as painless erythematous enlargements that may become ulcerated and hemorrhagic because of traumatic injury.…”

“…Immunohistochemical examination and novel imaging methods such as positron emission tomography/ computed tomography (PET/CT) have been shown to enable successful diagnosis and management of NHL (3,4). However, the application of PET/CT has not been reported for clinical diagnosis of primary NHL in the gingiva.…”

“…Most of the extranodal NHLs of the head and neck arise in the Waldeyer's ring followed by salivary glands, particularly the parotid gland, 3,5 and in the oral cavity in 2.5% of cases 5 . The gingiva is one of the rarest intraoral sites involved with PE NHL 6‐8 . An increase in the prevalence of NHL in immunocompromised patients has long been recognized 9,10 .…”

“…5 The gingiva is one of the rarest intraoral sites involved with PE NHL. [6][7][8] An increase in the prevalence of NHL in immunocompromised patients has long been recognized. 9,10 Moreover, the majority of the oral NHLs described in the literature are of diffuse large Bcell lymphoma.…”

“…There is an increasing incidence of NHL in patients with autoimmune disease, including coeliac disease, immune suppression from HIV, rheumatoid arthritis and Sjögren’s syndrome 3 . Diagnosis of NHL in the oral cavity may result from mucosal tissue or gingival swelling, or masses 4 . When major salivary glands are involved, they are commonly the first area of clinical manifestation of disease, and disease is often confined to the salivary glands.…”
