Growth and nutrient accumulation of Anacardium othonianum Rizz. seedlings grown in nutrient solution

Abstract: Knowledge about the growth and nutritional aspects of Anacardium othonianum Rizz. ('caju-de-árvore-do-cerrado'), which is a native fruit of the Brazilian Cerrado (savannah), is still incipient. The objectives of the present study were to characterize growth and nutrient accumulation of A. othonianum seedlings grown in a nutrient solution. The experiment was designed in randomized complete blocks with four replicates and six treatments, and the experimental period was 180 d after transplanting (DAT). Each treat… Show more

“…The results concerning the macronutrient content were used to calculate the accumulation of macronutrients and their ratios (K/(Ca + Mg), Ca/Mg, Ca/P, N/S − ratio). The accumulation of the nutrient content was calculated by multiplying dry weight (DW) of plants by the concentration of each nutrient in the biomass (Bessa et al 2013 ).…”

“…Mineral nutrition is an ally for the production of quality seedlings, besides being a fundamental factor to reach homogeneity, with rapid development and precocity (ALEXANDRE BESSA et al, 2013). Currently, the management of mineral nutrition in the formation of jabuticaba seedlings is carried out empirically by nurserymen, due to the lack of knowledge regarding the nutritional aspects of this culture.…”

“…The fruits and cashew (pseudo-fruit) of A. othonianum has high commercial value in the food industry; however, the slow growth of its seedlings has restricted its commercial cultivation to small producers and to extractivism . The nutritional value of pseudo-fruits of A. othonianum is well-known (Silva et al, 2008;Bessa et al, 2013). Studies about the growth aspects of A. othonianum in related to the medium composition in in vitro culture have been developed by Bessa and co-authors (Bessa et al, 2013).…”

Researches on associations of A. othonianum with endomycorrhizal and endophytic fungi have also been conducted to better understanding the growth influencing factors for this species (Faria et al, 2016).…”
