Hierarchically Porous N-Doped Carbon Nanosheets Derived From Grapefruit Peels for High-Performance Supercapacitors

Abstract: In this work, the low-cost hierarchically porous nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets (PNCNs) were prepared via one-step carbonization and KOH activation process of grapefruit peels. The prepared PNCNs exhibit higher specific surface area due to the inducement of the KOH-assisted carbonization compared to directly carbonized grapefruit peels (DCGPs). The PNCNs exhibit excellent electrochemical performances with high specific capacitance up to 311 F g À1 , superior cycling stability over 10000 cycles with only 5.95… Show more

“…Supercapacitors are electrical-energy-storage devices that have recently attracted considerable interest due to their long life cycle, fast charge/discharge capability, and high power [1][2][3][4]. Based on the working principles, supercapacitors can be classified into two major types: pseudocapacitors and electrical double layer capacitors (EDLCs).…”

“…Raman spectra of GO, GO-PPY-N 2 , GO-PPY-O 2 and GO-PPY-CH4 . Two distinct peaks of D-band and G-band located at 1350 cm -1 and 1580 cm -1 , respectively, were observed, which were related to A 1g mode breathing vibrations of six member sp 2 carbon rings, and the first order scattering of the stretching vibration mode E 2g of the sp 2 carbon domain[43,44], respectively.…”

“…Recently, more efforts have been devoted to the use of precursors from biomass wastes to produce porous carbons . Many studies have reported on the preparation of adsorbents and storage materials with porous structures using various biomass sources including coconut cassava peel waste, sugarcane bagasse, shell, waste coffee beans, cocoa pod husk, rice straw, olive stones, bamboo, and sawdust .…”
