“…There were no cyto plasmic and intranuclear inclusions of the epitheloid cells as seen in cyto megalic inclusion disease. The histopathology of zoster ophthalmicus [9] can be very similar to that shown here, and includes characteristically patchy necrosis of the anterior portion of the ciliary body, with perivasculitis of the retina. However, the apparently diagnostic feature of infiltration around the posterior ciliary nerves was markedly absent in our case, there were also no cutaneous lesions, and the occurence of a bilateral zoster ophthalmicus in a child would be extremely unlikely.…”
