A thrombotic state, elicited by adenosine diphosphate, was induced in the rat by dietary saturated fats and cholesterol, and was intensified by propylthiouracil.
ADP‐induced platelet thrombosis occurred without evidence of prior vascular disease, and the diets alone did not induce thrombosis.
Unsaturated fat (linseed oil) in the amounts used, did not significantly affect the incidence of thrombosis.
The mortality to ADP was reduced in all female animals supplemented by linseed oil in the diet.
