Hyunsoonleella jejuensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Flavobacteriaceae isolated from seawater

Abstract: Hyunsoonleella jejuensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Flavobacteriaceae isolated from seawater , was isolated from a seawater sample collected on the coastline of Jeju Island, South Korea. The strain was strictly aerobic, non-flagellated, non-gliding and oxidase-and catalase-positive. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain CNU004 T belongs to a distinct lineage in the family Flavobacteriaceae. Strain CNU004 T exhibited levels of 16S rRNA gene sequence s… Show more

“…Aquimarina addita JC2680 T (HM475137) with the one formed by the genera Hyunsoonleella (Yoon et al, 2010) and Jejuia (Lee et al, 2009), within a cluster encompassing the genera Hyunsoonleella, Jejuia and Marinivirga and two species of the genus Algibacter (Park et al, 2013b). Topologies of the maximum-parsimony and maximum-likelihood trees were nearly identical to the one shown by the neighbour-joining tree (Figs S1 and S2 available in IJSEM Online).…”

“…In recent years, many new taxa have been described in the family Flavobacteriaceae; the new genus Hyunsoonleella in the family was proposed by Yoon et al [1]. At the time of writing, the genus Hyunsoonleella comprised two species: Hyunsoonleella jejuensis [1] and Hyunsoonleella pacifica [2].…”
