N′-[(E)-Furan-2-ylmethylidene]pyridine-3-carbohydrazide

Abstract: The title compound, C11H9N3O2, exists in the E conformation with respect to the azomethane C=N bond, and has the keto form. There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit and each of these features a slight slanting of the pyridine and furan rings, which form a dihedral angle of 14.96 (10)° in one of the molecules and 5.53 (10)° in the other. The crystal structure is stabilized by N—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, weak C—H⋯O and C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds and C—H⋯π interactions and π–π interactions [sh… Show more

“…The title compound was prepared by adapting a reported procedure (Emmanuel et al, 2011;Mangalam & Kurup, 2011) by refluxing a mixture of methanolic solutions of 4-methoxybenzhydrazide (0.1661 g, 1 mmol) and 5-bromo-3-methoxysalicylaldehyde (0.2309 g, 1 mmol) for 4 h. The formed crystals were collected, washed with few drops of methanol and dried over P 4 O 10 in vacuo. Single crystals of the title compound suitable for X-ray analysis were obtained by slow evaporation from its methanolic solution.…”

“…The title compound was prepared by adapting a reported procedure (Emmanuel et al, 2011;Mangalam & Kurup, 2011) by refluxing a mixture of methanolic solutions of benzhydrazide (0.136 g,1 mmol) and 4-benzyloxysalicylaldehyde (0.2282 g,1 mmol) for 4 h. The formed crystals were collected, washed with few drops of methanol and dried over P 4 O 10 in vacuo. Single crystals of the title compound suitable for X-ray analysis were obtained by slow evaporation from its methanolic solution.…”

“…Structure of the compound is of great importance when structure-activity related studies (SAR) are undertaken. Due to the crystalline nature of majority of acyl hydrazones, their crystal structures are widely studied [10][11][12].…”
