trans-Diaquabis(ethylenediamine)zinc(II) 2-(sulfanilamido)pyrimidine monohydrate

Abstract: In the title compound, [Zn(C4H8N4)(H2O)2](C10H9N4O2S)2·H2O, the ZnII ion is octahedrally surrounded by two water O atoms [Zn—O = 2.68 (2) and 2.49 (2) Å] and the four N atoms of two ethylenediamine molecules. Intermolecular O—H⋯N, N—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen‐bond interactions result in the formation of an intricate three‐dimensional network.

“…Zn(3) is surrounded by two en ligands (Zn−N bonds: 1.973(10)–2.018(9) Å; average: 2.003 Å) forming a distorted tetrahedron (N−Zn−N angles: 85.9(4)–128.0(4)°) (Figure ; Tables S4–S6). All angles and bond lengths are in full agreement with literature data for Zn‐containing POVs and other zinc ethylenediamine complexes …”

“…The bite angle for the en ligands connecting the cluster is 82.4(2)°. The corresponding angle of 97.6(2)° between these two en ligands is in line with literature data . The second unique Zn 2+ cation is in a distorted octahedral environment made up of three bidentate phen ligands (Tables S3, S5, and S6).…”

“…The zinc(II) complex of sulfadiazine is used to prevent bacterial infection in burned animals (Brown et al, 1987). Interesting structural results have been described in the literature (Baenziger et al, 1983;Garcia Raso et al, 1997;Işık et al, 2005). In this paper, we report the crystal structure of the title salt, (I).…”
