IDENTIFICATION, DISTRIBUTION, AND TESTING THE LEVEL OF Sternochetus (Sternochetus sp, COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONIDAE) ATTACK AND THE HOST STATUS USING NO-CHOICE TEST

Abstract: Mango pulp weevil (MPW) and mango seed weevil (MSW) are found in only three species in the world, namely Sternochetus frigidus (MPW), Sternochetus mangiferae (MSW) and Sternochetus olivieri (MSW). These pests are the main pests for mango in several countries including Indonesia. “…S. gravis , known as the mango pulp weevil, attacks the pulp of the mango fruit and is mainly distributed in Asian countries including northeast India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines (Obra et al, 2014). The species causes yield loss of up to 60% of mangoes in the Philippines (de Jesus & Gabo, 2000) and the attack intensity in Kuweni mangoes ( Mangifera odorata Griff) is more than 92% in Indonesia (Syahputra et al, 2019). S. mangiferae and S. olivieri , known as mango seed weevils, only attack the seed of the mango fruits.…”
