Identifikasi Kesalahan Siswa Kelas VII Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Geometri Dengan Newman’s Procedure

Abstract: Errors in solving geometry problems can be used as a reference to find out what difficulties are made by students. One of the efforts in helping students who have difficulty in solving geometry problems, is by identifying the results of students' completion of the given problem. The purpose of this study is to identify student errors in solving geometry problems using Newman’s Procedure. This study uses a mixed approach (fixed method) using test questions instruments. The subjects of this study were 29 student… Show more

“…Based on the statement above, it can be stated that the factors that affect the literacy level of the geometry content of the Madsarah Tsanawiyah mathematics teacher are more on the problem of the level of complexity of the material so that it takes more than enough time to be able to solve these problems. This is in accordance with the results of previous studies on geometry material (Budiarto, 2002), (Azhar, WS;Senjayawati E., 2021), (Nanna, A. Wilda Indra; Pratiwi, E.; Anggraeni, C., 2020) (Hadiyanto, 2019). c. The high level of significance of increasing literacy skills both in general and in the content of mathematical material aspects of geometry shows a tendency that the implementation of distance training by utilizing information and communication technology and utilizing the learning management system with the help of the Moodle application makes it easy for participants to access the material and use it to improve competence.…”

“…Sometimes problem solving gives an inaccurate result. Error constitutes deviation from the right thing (Hadiyanto & Wulandari, 2019). The mistake can be happen either because of not getting the complete information, not understanding the question, calculation errors, or because the weak knowledge about the material concept that has been learned before (Rohmah & Sutiarso, 2018).…”

“…Research on analyzing student errors in solving geometry has been done a lot, including: analysis of errors in solving geometry in terms of Newman's Procedure [26], analysis of student errors in solving geometry problems in terms of misconceptions, procedures, and calculations [27], the types of errors that often make in solving geometry problems [28], and student error analysis in solving geometry problems [29]. The previous research was limited to analyzing the location of the error, but not in terms of the mathematical abilities of the research subject.…”
