Índice de Qualidade da Dieta Revisado para população brasileira

Abstract: The revised version of the Brazilian Healthy Eating Index is an indicator of dietary quality developed according to current nutritional recommendations. Dietary data were obtained from a population-based survey, the 2003 Inquérito de Saúde e Alimentação (ISA -Health and Diet Survey)-Capital. The Revised Index consists of 12 components: nine food groups included in the 2006 Brazilian Dietary Guidelines, in which daily portions are expressed in terms of energy density; two nutrients (sodium and saturated fats), … Show more

“…Secondly, a total of 50% of the population study had reached the maximum score (5.00) for Dark green and Orange vegetables and Beans for both genders, meaning that this component was not so accurate in capturing the differences within the population study. A probable reason for this is that the minimum amount intake necessary to obtain the maximum score (five points) is only half a portion of these food groups, which represents a consumption of only 7.5 kcal per 1000 kcal intake [11]. On the other hand, it is important to highlight that density standards (applied in the index) allow a common standard to be used, and also have the advantage of being independent of an individual’s energy and nutrient requirement.…”

“…The hypothesis-oriented analysis, based on a validated Dietary Index called the Brazilian Healthy Eating Index–Revised (BHEI-R), was used to assess the overall dietary quality [11,12]. The BHEI-R was developed to (1) capture the overall diet quality; (2) measure dietary risk factors for chronic diseases; (3) evaluate the dietary intake of individuals and/or population and (4) monitor the population intake [11].…”

“…Health-related behaviors: smoking, consumption of alcoholic beverages, screen time (tele-vision and computer in hours/day), practice of physical activity during recreation (active: adolescents aged 10 to 17 years who practiced at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day at least five days a week and adolescents 18 to 19 years who practiced at least 150 minutes weekly distributed among at least three days) 20 ; Score on the Brazilian Healthy Eating Index-Revised (BHEI-R) 21 , categorized in distribution tertiles. The BHEI-R has been adapted and validated for the Brazilian population and has 12 components: nine related to food groups (total fruits; whole fruits; total vegetables; dark-green/orange vegetables and legumes; total cereals; whole-grain cereals; milk and milk byproducts; meat, eggs and legumes; and oils), two related to nutrients (sodium and saturated fat) and one assessing the percentage of energy from saturated and trans fats, alcohol and added sugar.…”
