Efforts to combat dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Bali are focused on controlling the vector of Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes. One method is fumigation (fogging) with insecticides. The use of insecticides for a long time and improper doses can trigger resistance. Many countries including Indonesia have reported incidents of insecticide resistance. Methods for determining the level of insecticide resistance are bioassay, biochemistry, and gene mutation. The method does not describe the actual environmental conditions of Mosquitoes. Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) Berghofer developed a free-flight test procedure to evaluate insecticide resistance in free-flying mosquito conditions. The study, which was conducted in June 2019-January 2020, aimed to measure the level of insecticide resistance with the free-flight method in the A. aegypti population in North Denpasar. A total of 20 female A. aegypti aged 5-10 days were released in the free-flight room for 24 hours with permethrin or cypermethrin insecticide boards. The level of resistance is determined based on the mosquito mortality rate using WHO standards. The results showed permethrin and cypermethrin resistance in the A. aegypti population of North Denpasar, with mortality of less than 80%.

Malathion merupakan salah satu jenis insektisida yang telah lama digunakan dalam pemberantasan vektor Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) yaitu Aedes aegypti (Ae.aegypti) Pemakaian insektisida dalam jangka waktu lama dapat menimbulkan efek samping seperti resistensi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui status resistensi A.aegypti terhadap malathion 0,8% di Kelurahan Labuh Baru Timur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional deskriptif dengan desain cross-sectional. Larva Ae.aegypti diambil dari 4 RW di Kelurahan Labuh Baru Timur, kemudian dibawa ke laboratorium Parasitologi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Riau untuk dipelihara menjadi nyamuk dewasa. Metode uji resistensi yang digunakan adalah metode susceptibility test WHO dengan impregnated paper malathion 0,8%. Nyamuk dipindahkan tabung paparan yang sudah diberi malathion 0,8% dan tabung kontrol masing-masing sebanyak 25 ekor kemudian diamati selama 1 jam untuk melihat nyamuk knockdown. Selanjutnya nyamuk Ae.aegypti dipindahkan ke holding tube, diletakkan pada ruangan selama 24 jam kemudian dihitung mortalitas nyamuk. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan mortalitas nyamuk Ae.aegypti 24 jam setelah paparn malathion 0,8% adalah 10%. Pemakaian insektisida dalam jangka waktu lama tidak efektif untuk mengeliminasi vektor demam berdarah karena dapat menimbulkan resistensi. Status resistensi nyamuk A.aegypti di Kelurahan Labuh Baru Timur terhadap malathion 0,8% adalah resisten. Perlu adanya rotasi pemakaian malathion dalam pengendalian Ae.aegyptisebagai vektor DBD. Background: The discovery of Aedes spp. in the breeding sites is the leading cause of the high incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Yogyakarta in 2019. This incidence can be calculated based on the Container Index (CI), House Index (HI), and Breteau Index (BI). Efforts to control the density of Aedes spp. The use of organophosphate insecticides in the long term and with the wrong dose will cause resistance. Purpose: This research was conducted to determine the potential breeding sites, the density, and the organophosphate resistance status of Aedes spp. in Yogyakarta. Methods: A literature review with the criteria of referenced journals from 2011-2020, national journals accredited at least Sinta 5 to Sinta 1 and international journals at least Q4 to Q1. Results: This study shows that the potential breeding sites for Aedes spp. in Yogyakarta, in general, are both indoors or outdoors, stagnant clean water, opened, not exposed to direct sunlight, and the duration of not eradicating the mosquito nests > 1 month. Aedes spp. in Yogyakarta has a high population density, so it is at high risk of transmitting dengue cases. The resistance status of Aedes spp. in various regions of Yogyakarta are categorized as resistant to organophosphate insecticides. Conclusion: Literature review requires field research also, implementation of prevention through the mosquito nests eradication program and 3M (Shutting, Draining, and Burying), and the replacement of insecticides types other than organophosphates.
