Introduction: Individuals with stroke sequelae present changes in the postural alignment and muscle strength associated with hemiplegia or hemiparesis. Mirror therapy is a technique that aims to improve the motor function of the paretic limb. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of mirror therapy, associated with conventional physiotherapy, for range of motion (ROM), degree of spasticity of the affected upper limb, and the level of independence in the activities of daily living (ADL) of chronic patients after stroke. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental (before and after) study. The study included ten stroke survivors undertaking physiotherapy and presenting with upper limb paresis. The following gauges were used for the present study: goniometry, the Modified Ashworth Scale, Fugl-Meyer and Barthel Index. Fifteen sessions were performed, each lasting 30 minutes, consisting of stretching of the flexor and extensor muscles of the wrist and elbow, pronators and supinators, followed by mirror therapy with gradual functional exercises. Results: Improvement was observed in all aspects studied, however with significant differences for ROM wrist extension (p = 0.04) and forearm supination (p = 0.03) Conclusion: It can be concluded that mirror therapy contributed to the participants' good performance in the aspects studied, mainly in relation to ROM of the affected upper limb.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi traduzir e adaptar a escala de utilidade clínica de Tyson e Connell para o português brasileiro, além de avaliar sua confiabilidade interexaminador e intraexaminador. O processo de tradução e adaptação transcultural foi desenvolvido em cinco estágios: tradução; síntese das traduções; retrotradução; avaliação pelo comitê de especialistas; e teste da versão pré-final. Para avaliação da confiabilidade intra e interexaminador da escala, 20 instrumentos de avaliação foram analisados de forma independente por dois examinadores (confiabilidade interexaminador). Além disso, um dos examinadores fez todas as avaliações, em dois momentos distintos, com um intervalo de 30 dias entre uma e outra (confiabilidade intraexaminador). A tradução e a adaptação transcultural foram realizadas de forma sistemática, seguindo os critérios propostos, de modo que houve apenas pequenas alterações em dois itens para tornar a escala mais útil a todos os instrumentos disponíveis na literatura. Em relação à confiabilidade interexaminador da escala de utilidade clínica de Tyson e Connell-Brasil, o valor encontrado foi CCI=0,85 (IC 95%, 0,79-0,87), enquanto para a confiabilidade intraexaminador o resultado foi CCI=0,89 (IC 95%, 0,85-0,93). Os resultados deste processo indicaram adequado grau de equivalência semântica, conceitual e cultural. Além disso, as medidas de confiabilidade intra e interexaminadores foram consideradas adequadas. Esses achados demonstraram que a escala é adequada para avaliar a utilidade clínica de instrumentos de avaliação comumente utilizados em pacientes. Dessa forma, deve ser incorporada na prática clínica e em pesquisas para a escolha do melhor instrumento.

RESUMOParalisia cerebral (PC) é uma condição clínica, decorrente de uma lesão no cérebro durante seu desenvolvimento. Com a crescente necessidade de compreender os sintomas e as possibilidades dos pacientes, é preciso desenvolver novas ferramentas que atuem na avaliação de cada caso, auxiliando no diagnóstico do estado atual do paciente e melhorando o processo de reabilitação. O objetivo do trabalho foi pesquisar na literatura os instrumentos utilizados para a avaliação motora de pessoas com paralisia cerebral e descrevê-los. Os artigos pesquisados foram publicados nas bases lilacs, medline, cochrane, scielo, e estão disponíveis na íntegra na BIREME. Foram cruzados os descritores paralisia cerebral x questionário x escala x avaliação, que constam na lista do DeCS. O cruzamento ocorreu também no idioma inglês com os termos cerebral palsy x questionnaire x scale x evaluation. Selecionamos onze artigos para o desenvolvimento dessa revisão; oito artigos utilizaram a GMFCS, três utilizaram o PEDI e a escala de Ashworth modificada. O MACS, GMFM e MobQuest foram observadas em dois trabalhos cada, as demais escalas foram descritas em apenas um trabalho. Concluímos que, existem diferentes formas de avaliação de questões motoras na PC, mas alguns instrumentos que não avaliam o público em questão especificamente, porém podemos utilizá-los. ABSTRACTCerebral Palsy (CP) is a clinical condition resulted from an injury caused in the brain during its development. With the growing need to understand these symptoms and patients possibilities, we need to develop new tools that work in the evaluation of each case, assisting in the diagnosis of the patient's current condition and improving the rehabilitation process. The study aimed to search in literature the instruments used for the motor assessment of people with CP and describe theses tools. Articles surveyed were published in lilacs, Medline, Cochrane, scielo bases, and are available in full on BIREME. It were crossed the descriptors paralisia cerebral x questionário x escala x avaliação, contained in the DeCS list. The cross also occurred in English with terms cerebral palsy x questionnaire x scale x evaluation. Eleven articles selected for the development of this review; Eight articles used the GMFCS, three used the PEDI and the modified Ashworth scale. The MACS, GMFM and MobQuest were observed in two jobs each, the other scales were described in only one study. We conclude that there are different ways of evaluating motor issues in the CP, but we see some instruments that do not evaluate the public in question specifically, but we can use them. mientras que otras escalas se describen en un solo trabajo.
